Not too exciting

April 14, 2010

Easter Friday was a pretty relaxing day at home, watching the Good Friday Appeal, Hot cross buns. Kids were not well and Marn actually ended up taking Ava in with Chez to the Royal Children’s at 10pm as Ava had a temperature over 39 at times during the day. After Ava had been asleep for a few hours she woke up again and was delirious. Not a good sign. And she actually said when I brought her out of her room that she couldn’t see. That got us a bit panicy and so a trip to the hospital was the only answer. A late night. Royal Childrens said that she had tonsilitis but although her temperature was high, that they don’t worry too much until it is in the 40s.

The little man had a runny nose and was waking up early but he was pretty happy in himself.

We finally headed to Bellbrae on Easter Saturday. Ava was a bit better in the morning but had the 6pm fever and for a few days was asking to go to bed at around 6ish…What!!! (Hey don’t worry, I’m writing this post a week after Easter and things have returned to normal).

Ava played with Megan on Sunday and Monday. She gets a bit cheeky when she has older company. Not sure why as Megan is not cheeky. I think somehow she gets excited or tries to be older than she is. A bit bossy. It has continued since we got home but we are working to get her to understand that Nah-Nah-Nah-Na-Na-Nah is not how you get friends. A learning stage but one I hope we can teach her out of. It may mean Ava is on her way to the UN. Who knows she may broker a peace between the Palestinies and Israelis?

Tate is growing up. He doesn’t like tummy time at all but is pretty good at sitting up and seems to have a strong neck. We will give him more time on his tummy over the next while to give him a chance to roll. Other milestones, he started blurting before Easter but that was only for a couple of days, he had his first shower - he did like it. He is a happy guy.

We joked over Easter that he looked like Bert Newton with his little tuft of hair. The Baldy Archi award winner seemed to hit the mark.

Judy Nadin from Newcastle won the 2010 Bald Archies for her portrait of Bert Newton.. (Martin Corben)

Easter Sunday saw the Easter Bunny arrive. I think Ava may have been egged out as we still have eggs, 10 days after the event. The egg hunt inside was fun. “Mum I found another one….another one….another one.”

On Monday we packed up and met Will, Arnie and Penny in at Cameron Lings pub in Geelong. Took a little while to get a feed but the kids had fun running around in the park next to the pub.

Also another year that we didn’t get down to the Bells Classic surf comp. Kids were not well so it will be a must do in 2011.

Bellbrae is a great relax. We watched a few movies (Time Traveller’s Wife - good, and Dear Frankie - excellent indy sort of movie.), spent some time out in the yard (I did some work on the apple) and ate.
